Ted Update

To answer the question that nobody has been asking, I have been here, doin my thing, caught up in the endless cycle! But I am good. I just turned 31 which is wild, and it is almost Halloween. I am going to be a giraffe for Halloween. October is maybe the best month? Except it is 35 degrees outside here right now.

Outside of work, I have been playing guitar in my house and doing some woodworking. I built this cool 1x8” guitar cabinet (speaker box) a couple weeks ago:

I had planned this project and got the wood months ago. It is 3/4” curly maple so this thing is fairly heavy. I built it to go with this mini guitar amplifier I have that has a built-in speaker that sounds like shit. Now it sounds much better! The amp didn’t have a speaker out jack though, so I drilled a hole and wired one in:

I used a switching jack and wired it as such, meaning that if nothing is plugged into this new jack, the amp uses the shitty built-in speaker (could be useful in the future even though it sounds bad), but if I plug something in, the amp sends audio to the speaker that’s plugged in instead.

The wood I got was warped and I could not do much about that, as I don’t have a jointer, planer, or table saw, but I made it work! A successful project. The speaker actually sounds best with a bass amplifier and bass guitar, but new speakers need “breaking in”, so I will do that.

Also I am like 15 months alcohol-free?? Epic. Also I will be moving into Portland in the Spring most likely.

Minnesota

I went to Minnesota to visit my friends Robbie and Taylor in September and it was so fun. We went to the MN State Fair, and the Mall of America was across the street from my hotel so I went there. We also went to this place called Zorbaz, which is a restaurant you can park your boat at, and they replace all the letter “s”s on the menu with “z”s. I loved that.

Gaza

I don’t even know what to say about this because it is so complex and horrible, but the crushing weight of it on my mind makes me need to say something. It is hell on earth and I feel helpless.

I feel very loosely “connected” to it on a personal level, growing up Jewish and constantly hearing that Israel is the homeland, etc. But I’ve never actually felt like Israel was my homeland as I grew up here and was never religious.

But anyway: it is very painful to just exist knowing that my tax dollars are funding (through US aid/weapons to Israel and US opposition to a ceasefire) the ruthless decimation of an entire group of people in Gaza and surrounding areas. I don’t know what to do about this except continue to learn about what’s going on, donate some money, and contact some politicians. It is horrible.

I deeply encourage you to learn about what’s going on if you have been out of the loop, and do more if you can.

I hugely appreciate all my friends for caring so much about other humans.
